two hundred and sixty eight & two hundred and sixty nine

(It’s September 26th & September 27th.)

I got on both of my flights to Prague today! The flight to JFK was super roomy (roomie? I don’t really know…) and then I got first class to Prague!! Let me just say…there really is no other way to travel.

So if that isn’t enough already, I then got to the airport and immediately wanted to turn around and go back to ATL. I couldn’t figure out where to go! I finally asked an information woman, who was very nice, and with the help of some nice strangers, I got my 50+ lb bags onto the bus on the way to the train station. Get to the train station, buy my open ended ticket, look at the times…I was literally 1 minute late for the 11:42 train. Next train? 3:42. I’m in a place I don’t want to be, where I don’t speak the language, all alone and sooo sad, and now I’m stuck in the train station for another 4 hours…needless to say, I was emo, hungry, and weepy. I kept seeing couples reuniting and just so happy. Ahhh. I was pretty pathetic. haha.I’m so glad that part of the trip is over.

I got on the train and still had………….8 HOURS left before I arrived to Budapest. Wise words: if you move to Europe and you are alone and you have to take the train, DO NOT pack 2, 50 lb suitcases. You WILL NOT be able to manuever them and you WILL NOT be able to lift them over your head to put them in the luggage rack. But, one thing I will say is despite what people think about this “post-Communist” area of the world–every one that I have encountered has been more than willing to help and I had some people even ask to help me. Imagine that?! 🙂

Luckily, my insane over-packing led to having a microfleece blanket in my backpack. I pulled that thing out, rolled it up, and paaaaassseeeedddd out. Literally for about 4 hours. It was mouth-open-and-I-don’t-care-who-knows-it kind of sleep. And it was glorious. So anyways, about 4 hours and one conversation with a nice Solvakian who is moving to Canada soon (and who helped me get my bags down off of the luggage rack even though he probably weighed less than me) later, I was in Budapest.

This is how I felt about the last 2 hours of the train ride.

Got off the train and who did I see??

They were a sight for sore eyes. And sore shoulders from dealing with my bags all day. They took me home and Zach made me some quick spaghetti and I met Agnes!! and then I slept. Soooooooo well. In my tiny and cozy new room with windows like I’ve always dreamed about.

two hundred and sixty seven

Today (well really this afternoon when Non got home…there’s something about her that movtivates me to get stuff done!) I finalized my packing. It literally took me FOREVER to pack this time. It’s pretty out of control.

Anyways, we finished (I think?) and then went to eat Thai. Delicious.

I’m all packed. And ready to go? I guess we’ll find out!

two hundred and sixty six

I got a LOT of packing done today! I actually didn’t give into my a.d.d.-ness and just got to it.

two hundred and sixty five

(It’s September 23rd.)

I got on the flight from Huntsville today with ample legroom.

I’m glad I went to Alabama this weekend. I think I needed it.

two hundred and sixty four

(It’s September 22nd.)

We were LAAAAZY today. And then we went shopping. And then we drank some organic raspberry beer. Mmmm.

two hundred and sixty three

(It’s September 21st.)

I went to see Megan’s kids today. Hooooly moly. They are sooo cute. And she is so good at her job. With 18 pre-schoolers, I imagine things can get hectic, but I recognized it totally as organized chaos. They are so sweet and loving and hilarious.

It made me miss Mexico. Because half of her class is Mexican. I spoke to them in Spanish a little bit and they were just smiling and answering. So precious.

We then proceeded to go out tonight and have a good ole time in the span of about 2 hours. haha. It was pretty intense. I guess that’s how we roll in Huntsville.

we’re just 2 girls and we’re havin a good time

And Douglas found his howl this evening. So cute.

From Megan’s plethora of Douglas photos.

two hundred and sixty two

(It’s September 20th.)

I can’t really say much for today. What would have been super hard was made easier by the faces of 2 people I love!! (Megan and Dougie)

I got on the first flight to Huntsville (I was literally the last person on the plane) and endured the 36 minute flight with great impatience. hahaha. 36 minutes of travel is so much better than 4.5 hours of driving stuck behind people that drive 15 mph under the speed limit.

I was greeted by my bff and one of the cutest puppies on the Earth. Douglas Ray Killen. Pictures to follow.

He is real. Can you believe it?

two hundred and sixty one

(It’s September 19th.)

Today was a really hard day. I decided to postpone my trip to Budapest until early next week.

I talked to Megan, and I’m going to go to Huntsville tomorrow and stay through the weekend. It’s going to be a rough weekend anyways, and being with her and Douglas will help me I think!

two hundred and sixty

(It’s September 18th.)

It’s starting to feel like Fall…and I like it.

I don’t like packing…

TWO hundred and fifty nine

Non was off of school today for Rosh Hashanah, so we all went to eat at Longhorn with Mim and Pap. After, we ate candy cake that Non made (my fave dessert…delicious!).

On the packing front……..haven’t done any?! Yep…

I swear, one day I’ll be good at not procrastinating all throughout the packing process. It’s just so hard to get me motivated. And this is an extended trip… 🙂
