(It’s May 11th.)
This morning, we woke up early and drove to Texas. No big deal. haha.
Usually spending time in Puebla, this was a big deal! Monterrey is only about 2.5 hours from the border. One of the craziest things about driving over the border vs flying is that you can really see how different everything is from Mexico to the states. The houses, landscape, grass in the desert (how does that happen?!), even things like concrete quality! When people in the U.S. complain about how their tax dollars don’t go far enough, blah blah blah, they need to live in Mexico. Now, Mexicans have something to complain about. They pay taxes and don’t see ANY improvements in roads, water, lights, etc. I know that the U.S. is far from perfect, but living in another country for awhile makes you overlook the imperfections a bit. And, for the record, I loved living in Mexico. It’s not a horrible place to live by any means, but it’s very different. Ok…that’s enough of that. haha.
Weirdly and wonderfully, we crossed the border at a new bridge in Reynosa in literally 5 minutes.
